More about William Boyce
William Boyce, born in London, was a significant English composer and organist of the 18th century. Baptised on 11 September 1711, he was admitted as a choirboy at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1719. As a professional music composer, Boyce began his career in the 1730s, with his earliest success at Vauxhall Gardens. Appointed as the Master of the King's Musick in 1757, Boyce composed for various royal occasions. Despite increasing deafness, Boyce concentrated on editing the collection 'Cathedral Music', which is still used in Anglican services. He passed away on 7 February 1779 and was buried at St. Paul's Cathedral.
