More about The Libertines
The Libertines are an English rock band formed in London in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barât and Pete Doherty, who were later joined by John Hassall on bass and Gary Powell on drums. Known for their part in the UK's garage rock revival, they achieved early 2000s notoriety due to Doherty's drug use and conflicts between Barât and Doherty. Despite internal conflicts, they enjoyed success with a No. 2 single and No. 1 album in the UK and critically acclaimed albums produced by Mick Jones. Post-breakup in 2004, members pursued other projects but reunited in 2010 and again in 2014, signing with Virgin EMI and releasing 'Anthems for Doomed Youth' in 2015.
