Sebastian Currier, born on March 16, 1959, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, is an American composer renowned for his chamber and orchestral works. Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, he hails from a family of talented musicians. Currier's education includes degrees from the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. His notable compositions include 'Crossfade' for two harps and 'Microsymph', which compresses a symphony's breadth into a shorter format. Additionally, he orchestrated Stephen Albert's unfinished Symphony No. 2, recorded by Naxos Records. Anne-Sophie Mutter recorded his 'Aftersong' and premiered 'Time Machines'. He was a Columbia University music professor from 1999 to 2007 and has been honored with a Grawemeyer Award for 'Static'.
