More about Sebastian Currier
Sebastian Currier, born on March 16, 1959, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, is an American composer renowned for his chamber and orchestral works. Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, he hails from a family of talented musicians. Currier's education includes degrees from the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. His notable compositions include 'Crossfade' for two harps and 'Microsymph', which compresses a symphony's breadth into a shorter format. Additionally, he orchestrated Stephen Albert's unfinished Symphony No. 2, recorded by Naxos Records. Anne-Sophie Mutter recorded his 'Aftersong' and premiered 'Time Machines'. He was a Columbia University music professor from 1999 to 2007 and has been honored with a Grawemeyer Award for 'Static'.
