Salvatore Sciarrino, born on 4 April 1947 in Palermo, Italy, is a distinguished composer of contemporary classical music. Predominantly self-taught, Sciarrino is celebrated as one of the most performed Italian composers of his era. His innovative works, such as 'Quaderno di strada' and 'La porta della legge', showcase his unique sound. After moving to Rome in 1969 to study electronic music, he later taught in Milan before settling in Città di Castello, Umbria. Sciarrino's career includes teaching, directing, and a prolific discography, alongside numerous prestigious awards.
