Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen was a Danish composer born in Copenhagen. Son of sculptor Jørgen Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under influential teachers, graduating in 1958. Known for fourteen string quartets and a concerto grosso for Kronos Quartet, describing it as 'Vivaldi on Safari.' Winner of the 1980 Nordic Council Music Prize for 'Symfoni/Antifoni.'
