More about Noël Coward
Sir Noël Peirce Coward (1899-1973) was an English playwright, composer, director, actor, and singer renowned for his wit and flamboyance. Coward's extensive works include over 50 plays and hundreds of songs, some remaining theatre staples. He received an Academy Honorary Award in 1943 and was knighted in 1970. Known for hits like "Mad Dogs and Englishmen", he became a popular cabaret performer. Though he never publicly confirmed it, Coward's posthumously published diaries revealed his homosexuality. His legacy lives on, with the Noël Coward Theatre in London named in his honor.
