Michael Praetorius

Michael Praetorius, born Michael Schultze, was a German composer, organist, and music theorist, esteemed for his development of musical forms based on Protestant hymns. Born the youngest son of a Lutheran pastor, he became a significant figure in the landscape of Protestant church music.
