Luca Francesconi (born 17 March 1956 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian composer who has made significant contributions to the music world. His studies at the Milan Conservatory were followed by further musical education with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Luciano Berio. Throughout his career, Francesconi has been recognized for his innovative approach to composition, exploring the integration of various forms of perception and attention within his work. His role as the artistic director of the Venice Music Biennale between 2008 and 2011 is particularly noteworthy, where he expanded the reach of music across the city, inviting public engagement in unique and transformative ways. As an educator, he has imparted his knowledge for twenty-five years across Italy's conservatories and beyond, including master classes worldwide.
