Lewis J. Buckley

Lewis J. Buckley was born on 16th December 1947 in Columbus, Ohio. He grew up in Florida and earned his degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Connecticut College. Renowned for his trumpet performance, Buckley joined the U.S. Coast Guard Band in 1969 as Principal Trumpet. He became Director in 1975, serving for 29 years and establishing the band's reputation. Post-retirement, he directed the Manchester (CT) Symphony Orchestra and Metropolitan Wind Symphony. Buckley's conductorial expertise spans over 45 years, covering classical, commercial, and jazz music, collaborating with esteemed artists. He's also a distinguished member of various music associations and continues to compose and arrange music.
