Juliana Hall is an American composer born in 1958. Renowned for her art songs, monodramas, and vocal chamber music, she has been recognized as one of the most able and prolific art song composers in the United States. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, and raised in Chesapeake, Ohio, she began her music education under the guidance of her pianist mother at the young age of six. Hall's formal education in composition was shaped at the Yale School of Music, after which she earned a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1989. Her works, often deeply intertwined with literary texts, have gained her international acclaim and a place in the annals of contemporary art song.
