Jule Styne, born Julius Kerwin Stein on December 31, 1905 in London, England, was a prolific English-American songwriter and composer noted for his Broadway musicals. Starting his life in a Jewish family with Ukrainian roots, Styne moved to Chicago at age eight and showcased early musical talent. He contributed to the entertainment industry extensively, with his career lasting several decades and spanning over 1,500 published songs.
