John Milford Rutter CBE is an English composer, conductor, editor, arranger, and record producer, mainly of choral music. Born in London, Rutter grew up living over the Globe pub on Marylebone Road. He attended Highgate School and then studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. He founded the Cambridge Singers in 1981, with whom he has made many recordings, especially under Collegium Records. Residing at Hemingford Abbots in Cambridgeshire, Rutter is known internationally, conducting choirs and orchestras worldwide.
