George Frideric Handel

George Frideric Handel was a German-British Baroque composer, acclaimed for his operas, oratorios, anthems, concerti grossi, and organ concertos. Trained in Halle, he worked in Hamburg and Italy before settling in London in 1712, where he became a leading figure in music and was naturalised as a British citizen in 1727. Handel's music is celebrated for its dramatic grandeur and melodic richness. After a shift from Italian opera to English choral works, he found lasting fame with Messiah and other works. Handel's legacy endures through masterpieces like Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks, as well as his influence on future generations of composers.
