More about Franz Danzi
Franz Ignaz Danzi (1763-1826) was a German cellist, composer, and conductor part of the transition from late Classical to early Romantic music. He was associated with figures like Mozart, Beethoven, and mentored Carl Maria von Weber. Born in Schwetzingen, raised in Mannheim, and taking up his father's position in Munich's court orchestra, Danzi's career evolved through the Mannheim school. He also served as assistant Kapellmeister in Munich and Kapellmeister in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. His contributions to woodwind quintets are particularly noted.
