More about Ferruccio Busoni
Ferruccio Busoni was an Italian composer, pianist, conductor, editor, writer, and teacher, renowned for his contributions to music and his work with leading musicians of his era. An exceptional pianist from an early age, he studied at the Vienna Conservatory and under prominent individuals like Wilhelm Mayer and Carl Reinecke. His extensive career included roles as a keyboard instructor, composer, and touring virtuoso. Busoni's writings on music were significant, touching on innovative themes such as microtones. After 1907, his composition style became more distinctive, sometimes incorporating atonality. His body of work includes piano compositions, orchestral works, chamber music, vocal pieces, and operas. One of his major legacies is the Bach-Busoni Editions, transcriptions of Bach's works. He died in Berlin at the age of 58.
