Eugène Joseph Bozza (1905-1991) was a French composer and violinist, renowned for his chamber music for wind instruments. Born in Nice, Bozza showed early musical talent, beginning violin studies with his father, umberto bozza, at age five. After moving to Italy during World War I, he pursued music studies in Rome before returning to France to attend the Conservatoire de Paris. Bozza won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1934, which facilitated a fruitful period of composition in Rome. He conducted the Opéra-Comique in Paris and later became the director of the École Nationale de Musique in Valenciennes. His style, reflecting Neo-Classicist traits, was influenced by French Impressionism and the eclecticism of the inter-war Parisian music scene【27†source】.
