More about Enrique Granados
Pantaleón Enrique Joaquín Granados Campiña, commonly known as Enrique Granados, was a distinguished Spanish composer and classical pianist from Catalonia. Celebrated for his works 'Goyescas', 'Spanish Dances', and the opera 'María del Carmen', Granados was born in Lleida, Spain, on 27 July 1867. He studied piano in Barcelona, later enhancing his skills in Paris under Charles-Wilfrid de Bériot and influenced by Felip Pedrell. His compositions, which included piano and chamber music, songs, and zarzuelas, marked an evolution through three distinct styles and greatly influenced contemporaries such as Manuel de Falla and Pablo Casals. Tragically, Granados died on 24 March 1916, drowning after the ferry SS Sussex was torpedoed during World War I【29†source】.
