More about Eddie Holland
Edward James Holland Jr., known as Eddie Holland, was born on October 30, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. As an early Motown artist with singles like 'Jamie', he soon moved to work behind the scenes due to stage fright. He became part of Holland–Dozier–Holland, a legendary songwriting and production team that crafted the Motown Sound with hits for artists like Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. With 143 US and 80 UK chart hits, Holland served as a lyricist and collaborated with Norman Whitfield on notable songs for the Marvelettes and the Temptations. He composed for the First Wives Club musical and faced several legal challenges regarding taxes, loans, and music rights throughout his career.
