More about Bent Sørensen
Bent Sørensen, born on 18 July 1958, is a notable Danish composer, celebrated for winning the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, he studied under Ib Nørholm and Per Nørgård. His compositions, such as 'Birds and Bells' and 'Sterbende Gärten', which won the Nordic Council Music Prize in 1996, feature microtonal inflections and blurred harmonies. Despite his extensive work across various mediums, he has not engaged in electroacoustic music. As of 2008, he serves as a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
