Vittorio Monti was an Italian composer, violinist, mandolinist, and conductor, renowned for his famous work Csárdás. Born in Naples, he honed his musical skills at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. His career took a significant turn around 1900 when he became the conductor for the Lamoureux Orchestra in Paris. There, he composed various ballets and operettas, such as Noël de Pierrot, along with a method for mandolin titled 'Petite Méthode pour Mandoline'. His influence extended within the mandolin community in Paris, founding 'La Stella', dedicated to mandolin and guitar compositions and techniques, and initiating the music journal 'Le Mediator' in 1910 to support emerging mandolin and guitar artists.
