Composer and founder of Musica Quaternaria. He graduated in Composition (MMus) in 1992 from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied with F. Donatoni. In 1989, he was awarded the Silone Prize for Music for his composition Homage to Silone for narrator and orchestra. In 1993, the Gaudeamus Foundation in Amsterdam awarded Mordenti for ensemble, which was subsequently broadcast on radio. He has worked with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the RAI Auditorium in Rome, the Teatro Comunale of Modena, the Portogruaro Festival and the Ravello Festival, as well as with Dutch and Belgrade radio, the Australian Foundation, and the British Asian Music Society of Victoria in Melbourne. In 1997, he founded Musica Quaternaria (quaternary music), a compositional approach based on the use of only four notes. Since 2001, he has taught composition at the Conservatories of Potenza and Bari, and currently at the Conservatory of Milan. In 2004, his opera Marlene was staged at the Vittoria Colonna Museum of Contemporary Art in Pescara; in 2009, Coraggio for soprano and piano was performed at the Ravello Festival in memory of the victims of the L’Aquila earthquake. In 2012, he delivered lectures on Musica Quaternaria at the Vernadsky National Library in Kyiv and at the University of California, Irvine. In 2018, he presented the multimedia work Sijo at Symphony Space in New York City. His works are published by Autumn Music (Melbourne), Casa Musicale Sonzogno, Casa Ricordi (Milan), and Universal Edition (Vienna). ------ Compositore e fondatore della Musica Quaternaria.
