William Berry

William Thomas Berry, born on July 31, 1958, is an American musician primarily recognized as the drummer for the alternative rock band R.E.M. Berry's drumming was known for its economical style, and he also played several other instruments including guitar, bass guitar, and piano both for songwriting and on R.E.M. albums. In 1995, Berry suffered a cerebral aneurysm on stage but made a successful recovery. Two years later, he retired to become a farmer, maintaining a low profile but occasionally reuniting with his former band and working on other music projects. In 2022, Berry returned to the music industry with The Bad Ends.
