Austrian composer Kurt Schwertsik, born on June 25, 1935, in Vienna, is notable for establishing the 'Third Viennese School'. A student of Joseph Marx and Karl Schiske, he also studied under Karlheinz Stockhausen. Schwertsik co-founded the ensemble 'die reihe' and 'MOB art & tone ART'. His tenure as a hornist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and a professorship at the Vienna Musikhochschule has marked his career. Characterized by tonal exploration, irony, and humor, his compositions have earned him numerous accolades including the Grand Austrian State Prize.
