Sir Thomas John Woodward OBE, known professionally as Tom Jones, was born on 7 June 1940 in Treforest, Wales. Rising to fame in the 1960s with a string of top 10 hits, Jones became a renowned Welsh singer with a powerful baritone voice. Described as a 'musical shapeshifter,' he has dabbled in various genres, including pop, R&B, country, and gospel. Over his career, Jones has sold over 100 million records worldwide. His notable songs include 'It's Not Unusual,' 'What's New Pussycat?,' and 'Green Green Grass of Home.' He has also tried his hand at acting and received numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1966 and was knighted in 2006. His influence persists, with roles on television shows like 'The Voice UK.'
