David Bowie

David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie, was an English singer, songwriter, musician, and actor born on 8 January 1947. Acclaimed for his innovative work during the 1970s, his career was marked by reinvention and visual presentation, significantly impacting popular music. After a series of unsuccessful early releases, Bowie's breakthrough came with the 1969 hit 'Space Oddity'. His Ziggy Stardust persona led him to widespread popularity. Bowie continued to reinvent his style and image, notably with his 1980s hit 'Let's Dance'. He was also an accomplished actor, appearing in several films. Bowie remained musically active until his death from liver cancer on 10 January 2016, just two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final album, Blackstar. His record sales exceeded 100 million worldwide, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
