Robert Elisabeth Stolz (25 August 1880 – 27 June 1975) was an Austrian songwriter and conductor, renowned for his operettas and film music. Born in Graz to a musical family, with his father Jakob being a conductor and composer, and his mother Ida Bondy, a concert pianist, he exhibited musical talent early on, touring Europe as a pianist at the age of seven. Stolz studied at the Vienna Conservatory and eventually held conducting posts in various cities before he began composing operettas and songs, achieving great success in these ventures. He moved between Berlin and Vienna during his career, actively helped Jewish and political refugees during the Nazi era, and eventually settled in Vienna.
