Olga Neuwirth (born 4 August 1968 in Graz) is an Austrian contemporary classical composer, visual artist and author, known for her operas and music theater works addressing political themes such as identity, violence, and intolerance. She started music lessons at age seven and pursued composition despite a jaw injury thwarting her plans to study trumpet. Neuwirth collaborated with Nobel laureate Elfriede Jelinek and gained recognition with her commissioned work for the steirischer herbst festival.
