Christopher Chapman Rouse III (February 15, 1949 – September 21, 2019) was an American composer known for his orchestral works, including Requiem, several concertos, and six symphonies. He received awards such as the Kennedy Center Friedheim Award, a Grammy, and the Pulitzer Prize for Music. Rouse served as composer-in-residence at various institutions including the New York Philharmonic. His teaching career spanned the University of Michigan, the Eastman School of Music, and the Juilliard School.
