Michael lives and works in London and is currently pursuing doctoral study in composition under the supervision of Mark Bowden and Helen Grime at Royal Holloway, University of London, having previously studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is currently one of Sound and Music's New Voices, and a London Symphony Orchestra Soundhub Associate. He was awarded a place on the London Symphony Orchestra's Panufnik Scheme, and has recently composed a short work for the LSO. He is currently a London Philharmonic Orchestra Young Composer, and will be writing a new piece for the LPO over the coming year. Earlier in his career he worked as a freelance music director, including several productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company. He is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Chimera, a London-based composers' collective. Recent compositions include Fire Whirls (2015) for the London Symphony Orchestra, Slipstream (2013-14) for all-Australian Chamber Orchestra Ruthless Jabiru, commissioned under Sound and Music's Portfolio Scheme, and Jo-Ha-Jo-Ha-Kyū (2012-13) for large ensemble. Prism (2012), was a winner of the 5th Annual International Molinari String Quartet competition in Canada, and Hearing Voices (2012) for Solo Cello and electronics, was 2nd prize winner in the Coventry University International Composition Competition.
